VirtualStage is a wonderful educational resource.
It can be used by pupils and students on a wide range of courses, for example:
Media Studies. VirtualStage allows students to explore all aspects of television and film production from building sets, positioning cameras and configuring the lighting through scriptwriting and performance to editing.
Creative writing. Since VirtualStage uses many of the appeals of computer games - 3D graphics and interactivity - it may appeal to pupils that are not engaged by more traditional teaching methods. Those children may respond much more positively to seeing a story of theirs performed than if they were given a pen and paper and asked to write a play.
Drama and the Performing Arts. Students of drama can use VirtualStage to investigate body language and the interaction between people. VirtualStage allows users to create their own actions for the characters. Drama students can create actions and gestures that people may perform in particular circumstances. They can create scenes to explore how the characters interact with one another and develop entire productions to see how relationships evolve.
Citizenship and Social Education. VirtualStage can be used by teachers and parents working with children on social issues such as bullying and relationships. The virtual world can be used to demonstrate potential outcomes and to explore alternatives.
