Select Voice

The Select Voice Dialog allows you to choose the voice for your Desktop Buddy from the compatible SAPI4 and SAPI5 speech synthesis engines that are installed on your computer.

Choosing a Voice

To select a voice, click on the appropriate row in the table with your mouse. If you have lots of voices, you can click on any of the column headers to sort the table by that column, in order to make it easier for you to find a particular voice.

You can test a voice by pressing the Play button. You will be prompted to enter some text. The text will be spoken using the selected synthesized voice. You can change the text by pressing the Edit button and entering the new string. Press the Play button again to hear the new text spoken.

Having decided on a voice, press the OK button. The Select Voice Dialog will close and the Desktop Buddy will adopt the selected voice. Double clicking on a row in the table has the same effect.

Available Commands

Test Menu
	Edit	Prompts you to enter the text that will be spoken using the selected voice.
	Play	The selected voice is used to generate speech from the test text that has been entered. Prompts you to enter some text if you have not already done so.
